MICROANTENNA REPORT #2

In the previous report, we were looking for a core material that had the appropriate dielectric properties.

We were looking for a non-magnetic material that is rigid enough to work with and withstands temperatures of at least 160°C.

UWIPOM2 GOES TO CEMAG ANNUAL MEETING

Jimena Soler, one of our PhD students from our IMDEA team will be presenting "Understanding the initial growth stages in NdFeB films: epitaxial films prepared by Molecular Beam Epitaxy with varying underlayer" at the Annual Meeting CEMAG + Meeting Spanish Chapter IEEE Magnetics Society.

NEW PUBLICATION:

Universidad de Alcalá team released a new paper called:

"Model-Based Systems Engineering Applied to Trade-Off Analysis of Wireless Power Transfer Technologies for Implanted Biomedical Microdevices"

THE IMPORTANCE OF AN APPROPIATE GLUE

UWIPOM2 development is getting closer to a reality day to day. Little by little we are managing to microfabricate the tiny elements that make up UWIPOM2 technology.

In this stage of the research we began to have the need to join these components that, due to the microscale with which we are working, it is not always possible to join them mechanically, fitting them together.

BSF COIL TEST

Our teams are always looking to make this technology safe and suitable for performing inside human bodies.

After performing air-environment current density capacity tests of UWIPOM2 micro-coils, in order to verify its safety use limits, we are going a step further and this time we have performed the same tests in Simulated Body Fluid (SBF).

MICROANTENNA REPORT #1

We have already managed to make the first prototype of a helical antenna around a steel core.

After testing this first prototype and seeing the results obtained, we have realized that we must use a non-magnetic core.

MICROASSEMBY PROCESS DEVELOPMENT

The development of UWIPOM2´s micro bearings continues. Getting to devise, test and choose the right materials for microbearing to have a long useful life is already a challenge.
After drawing conclusions from our simulations, we faced the challenge posed by the characteristic microsize of UWIPOM2 technology when it comes to micro-fabrication.

4TH GAMB VIRTUAL MEETING

UWIPOM2´s teams met in a virtual meeting last 23st of April, 2021. The research continues and following the recommendation for this still pandemic situation, the team met on a virtual meeting platform.

MICROCOILING REPORT #2 - SEMIAUTOMATIC WINDING SYSTEM

After some adjustments of the micro-winding station and some improvement of the technique, the semiautomatic winding of micro coils is getting faster and more uniform. We are using 0.1mm stainless Steel core pin and 0.025 mm self bonding copper wire but smaller diameters could be used.

MICROCOILING REPORT #1

The development of uwipom continues and with it the development of each of the microparts that compose it.

One of our teams from Universidad de Alcalá is working on the development of the microcoils that are part of the UWIPOM2 micromotor. We are testing different micro-winding configurations, improving the workstation as our team faces new problems.

Our biggest problems found and already solved have been:

UWIPOM2 GOES TO THE SECOND EDITION OF THE EIC INNOVATION TRAINING WORKSHOP

UWIPOM2’s project coordinator, has participated in the Second edition of the EIC Innovation Training Workshop.

This Innovation Training Workshop is directed by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Business Acceleration Services.

THIRD GAMB VIRTUAL MEETING

UWIPOM2´s teams met in a virtual meeting last 23st of September, 2020. The research continues and following the recommendation for this still pandemic situation, the team met on a virtual meeting platform.

All the teams shared with the rest of the group their progress and discussed about the direction that the research will take from here on.  Even though the situation caused by the coronavirus COVID-19 affected our teams workflow we are resuming  productivity .

UWIPOM2 JOINS MEDTECLIVE

The project UWIPOM2 Joins the community of MedtecLIVE, one of the major events for the production of medical technology.

UWIPOM2 IN SPRING HORIZON 2020

UWIPOM2 comes to Spring Horizon 2020, many interesting, projects and innovation ideas in just a click.

The EU National Contact Point for research programs and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland made possible this virtual Spring with Horizon 2020 campaign, in which you may find really interesting innovation projects that will make a step fordward on science.

SECOND GAMB VIRTUAL MEETING

All the teams showed the progress of their task and the research continues.

UWIPOM2´s teams met in a virtual meeting last 2nd of April, 2020. Given the impossibility of making a personal meeting, the team met on a virtual meeting platform.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN WORKS

UAH team keeps working in the preliminary design of the electromagnetic finite element model of the micro-robotic joint. Our main preliminary design goal is to maximize the output torque, mass torque density and volumetric torque density while keeping a high efficiency.

Finally after a few months of simulations, this team has come to few preliminary possible models that may accomplish this requirement. Configuration variables are considered, result of the interaction with other system components as the stress suffered on the bearings and their configuration inside the motor. Now, the following step that we may take is getting onto manufacturing details.
